If your looking for value for money top quality payroll services you have come to the right place. Here are some things to consider when comparing our services with other bookkeeping and payroll services quotes:
Hourly Quotes (but how many hours???)
Quotes based on cost per hour only give you half the equation. There can be a massive difference in time taken to perform a task especially in the area of payroll where systems can make a big difference.
Also consider your own time. Many bookkeepers/payroll services do not do the complete job. This means you have to finish it off yourself or get a costly accountant to do it. Here are some tasks that we perform that others frequently leave off the quote or are not qualified to do at all:
- Preparation and lodgment of your monthly Installment Activity Statement (IAS). If your payroll service provider is not a ATO BAS service provider they cannot legally do this.
- Superannuation remittances and payments.
- End of year payroll reconciliation and PAYG payment summaries.
At Small Business Payroll Services we charge by pay not by hour so you know up front what it will cost. Our fee also includes Superannuation Returns and PAYG payment summaries so there are no hidden costs.
Low Cost Per Hour (but what about hidden costs)
Recently I have noticed many low cost bookkeeping (including payroll) services being advertised on the Internet. Rates such as $28 per hour! Well what quality can you expect?
Consider that the Clerical and Administrative Employees Consolidated (State) Award in NSW rate for a casual employee for payroll is $26.36 per hour. Now most accounting/bookkeeping practices charge out their staff at over 2.5 times what the staff member is paid. This is to cover their fixed costs, and they too have to make a profit. So if you are paying by hour and need competence you should expect to pay around $66 per hour. I want to stress that this is just for competence not someone extremely well versed in th area.
So how can they do it for $28 per hour. Well they don’t! They send it overseas to be done. But do they even run the overseas processing centre themselves? I doubt it. If you are getting a quote ask them for proof. So if your information goes overseas to an external company how can you be sure of the confidentiality of information and the quality of service you will receive.
Because your work is done overseas they cannot cover all the tasks. E.g. your data can be entered into an MYOB/Quicken file but your employees are still not paid, your IAS still is not lodged etc.
At Small Business Payroll Services we use efficient systems to make sure our service is cost effective. We do not compromise on quality or leave the job half done!
So you want to save time! Will your payroll service provider save you as much time as they should?
Your time is important. It’s the reason you need to outsource payroll. If your payroll service provider leaves out tasks does not prepare the super returns and make these payments or leaves any task undone then you need to do it.
At Small Business Payroll Services we know your time is important. Just once per payroll we will ask you to approve the pay. We will provide you with a report which details all of your payroll obligations including PAYG, super and our reasonable fee. Once this is approved we take care of everything else just like your own payroll department would.
If your employees need to update their tax details, change their super fund etc. They can contact us directly and we will arrange it just like your own payroll department would. We only use up your time when necessary for approvals.
Here’s a list of the tasks we do:
|Process timesheets and send payslips to the employees||Yes||Yes(1)|
|Prepare EFT file and send to bank||Yes||No(2)|
|Super remittances and payment||Yes||No(3)|
- Whilst most provider can do this many require you to set out everything for them and bring little expertise to the job.
- Many low cost providers are just data entry services. They cannot help you actually process payments.
- Superannuation is paid to Small Business Payroll Services Trust Account at the time of the payroll so that we can pay your super without requiring you to get involved a second time. As a CPA practice our trust account is audited annually and we adhere to strict rules to keep your funds secure.
When comparing your options you should consider the time and expertise required to perform ALL of the above tasks. If you would like to find out more about how we can help you simply call us on 1300 113 733.
